Machinist

A leading engineering and manufacturing organisation is seeking an experienced Machinist to join its workshop team in the London area. This is a permanent opportunity offering a varied role working on the repair, refurbishment and remanufacture of mechanical components and equipment used across industrial applications.

The successful candidate will be responsible for producing high-quality precision-engineered parts while supporting workshop operations and delivery schedules.

Key responsibilities include:

• Operating manual lathes, milling machines, drilling, boring and grinding equipment.
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
• Producing components to tight tolerances using precision measuring equipment.
• Supporting repair, overhaul and remanufacturing activities within the workshop.
• Carrying out machine set-up, tooling adjustments and routine equipment checks.
• Working collaboratively with colleagues to meet quality and delivery targets.
• Maintaining high standards of health, safety and housekeeping.

Applicants should have a recognised engineering qualification or apprenticeship, together with proven experience in a machining environment. Strong knowledge of manual machining techniques, engineering drawings and precision measurement is essential. Candidates must be able to work independently, demonstrate attention to detail and possess a proactive approach to problem solving.

Salary: £34,980 - £41,040 depending on experience.
