HGV Class 1 Drivers (CAT C+E)

Location: Coventry CV8
Job Type: Long-term ongoing

Shift Patterns: Across Sunday to Friday (full time and part time options available) - Monday and Friday are priority shifts.

Start times windows:

  • 11:00 - 15:00
  • 20:00 - 23:00
  • 23:00 - 03:00

Pay (including rolled up holiday pay):

Weeks 1-12

  • Between 6am - 10pm: -19.88 per hour
  • Between 10pm - 6am: -20.16 per hour
  • Weekends (Saturday & Sunday): -20.16 per hour

13+ Weeks

  • Between 6am - 10pm : -20.16 per hour
  • Between 10pm - 6am : -20.73 per hour
  • 6th Shift between 6am - 10pm : -30.28 per hour
  • 6th Shift between 10pm - 6am: -31.13 per hour
  • Bank Holiday between 6am - 10pm : -40.38 per hour
  • Bank Holiday between 10pm - 6am: -41.52 per hour

Average shift length: 10-12 hours (guaranteed 8 hours)

Key Responsibilities

  • Trunking between depots, ensuring timely and safe delivery of parcels containing high - value goods.
  • Collecting high-value goods from well-known customers, including full trailer collections, drop and swap operations.
  • Occasional handling of push roller cages as required.
  • Precise reversing and manoeuvring in yards, including shunting duties when needed.
  • Completing pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
  • Adhering to traffic laws, regulations, and company safety standards.
  • Communicating effectively with dispatch and logistics teams to ensure smooth operations.

Requirements

  • Full UK driving licence with Class 1 (C+E) entitlement.
  • Ability for flexibility of start times from the above windows (drivers to choose which window they would prefer)
  • Valid DCPC and Digital Tachograph Card.
  • Maximum of 6 points on licence (minor offences only).
  • Successful completion of assessment (theory & practical).
  • Understanding of WTD legislation.
  • Excellent communication skills and a safety-first mindset.
