Overview:

First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Fitter on behalf of one of our clients.

Supports various teams & facilities in the provision of mechanical Engineering services and assisting in the delivery of mechanical engineering projects.

Our client encourages applications from ex-military personnel however all candidates will be given due consideration.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Participate in the maintenance, improvement and modification of components as directed by mechanical technicians.
• Responsible for the assembly and preparation of components following appropriate documentation and drawings.
• Working to a high standard of accuracy, follow process documentation and carry out technical engineering and assembly tasks.
• Undertake a wide range of hands on general purpose duties with minimal supervision.
• To liaise with members of other teams to progress tasks in a timely manner.
• Provide information and support enabling correct documenting of processes/procedures for the maintenance, installation and testing of equipment.
• General workers are expected to know some tasks may be additionally complicated by the fragile and complex nature of equipment and apply appropriate care and techniques to complete the work.

• Work in accordance with company policy and undertake any other reasonable tasks or duties requested by your manager.

Skills and Qualifications:

• A recognised engineering apprenticeship or equivalent with a relevant qualification in engineering.
• Ability to accurately read and interpret assembly drawings.
• Good working knowledge of quality assurance activities and documentation.
• Experience of working under a Written Safe System of Work / Method Statements.
• Ability to independently complete tasks, as well as co-operate and work as part of a team.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Competent computer skills including Microsoft Office, in particular Word and Excel.
• BPSS Security Clearance.

Desirable:

• Knowledge of good vacuum practice and vacuum systems and technology.
• Knowledge of good practices for cooling systems.
