BGIS is seeking a skilled and customer-focused Fabric Engineer to join our team at a newly mobilised, flagship commercial office property in the City of London.

This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a dedicated on-site engineering team responsible for maintaining a high-profile, multi-tenanted building. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the property remains safe, compliant, and presented to the highest standards for both occupiers and visitors.

The Role

As a Fabric Engineer, you will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive building fabric maintenance across the site. You will play a key role in ensuring the building remains safe, compliant, and presented to the highest standards.

Working as part of a dedicated on-site engineering team, you will undertake a variety of maintenance and repair tasks while supporting the wider operational team in delivering a best-in-class service.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive fabric repairs.
• Undertake general building maintenance including:
  • Carpentry and joinery repairs
  • Painting and decorating
  • Minor plumbing repairs
  • Flooring repairs
  • Ceiling and partition repairs
  • Door and ironmongery maintenance
  • General handyman activities
• Respond to service requests within agreed service levels.
• Complete maintenance records and job updates via CAFM systems.
• Conduct routine building inspections and identify defects.
• Ensure all works are completed safely and in accordance with company procedures.
• Liaise professionally with clients, occupiers, contractors, and site stakeholders.
• Support small works and refurbishment projects as required.
• Maintain a high standard of housekeeping within plant areas and work locations.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Previous experience as a Fabric Engineer, Maintenance Technician, Handyperson, Carpenter, Building Maintenance Engineer, or similar.
• Strong all-round building fabric maintenance experience.
• Good understanding of health and safety requirements within commercial buildings.
• Experience working within commercial offices, corporate environments, or high-end facilities management contracts.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Basic IT skills and experience using CAFM systems is advantageous.

Desirable

• Trade qualification in carpentry, construction, or building maintenance.
• Previous experience working within a large commercial office environment.
• IOSH Working Safely or similar health and safety qualification.
