Electrical Assembly Fitter

Job Description

The role

If you have a strong practical understanding of electrical assembly, enjoy hands-on work and take pride in producing high-quality results, we've got the role for you.

We're looking for an Electrical Fitter to join our Production team, supporting the electrical assembly of our specialist machinery. You'll play an important role in ensuring electrical components are assembled, wired and installed accurately, working to electrical drawings and quality standards.

Working closely with colleagues across Production and Engineering, you'll help ensure machinery is built efficiently, identify and resolve technical issues and contribute to the continuous improvement of our manufacturing processes.

What you'll be doing

  • Building and wiring electrical control panels, backplates and cables in accordance with electrical drawings and specifications.
  • Carrying out electrical assembly, installation and wiring modifications throughout the machine build process.
  • Reading and interpreting electrical drawings to ensure components are correctly assembled and installed.
  • Identifying and highlighting potential electrical design or assembly issues, working with colleagues to resolve them.
  • Ensuring all electrical work meets ABG's quality control standards, electrical safety requirements and established working practices.
  • Supporting continuous improvement activities, including 5S and lean manufacturing principles, to improve efficiency, quality and working practices.

Who we're looking for

You'll be a practical, methodical and detail-focused individual with an interest in electrical engineering and a commitment to producing high-quality work. Ideally, you'll have previous experience in electrical fitting, panel wiring or electrical assembly within an engineering or manufacturing environment.

A relevant electrical qualification, such as an NVQ Level 2 or City & Guilds, would be desirable, along with experience working from electrical drawings. However, formal qualifications are not essential, and we'd also welcome applications from individuals with relevant hands-on experience and a willingness to develop their skills.

You'll have a good awareness of electrical safety and quality standards, with the ability to work accurately, manage your workload and meet production deadlines.

Above all, you'll be a reliable and proactive team player with a positive attitude, good problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn and contribute to the wider team.
